Rising Star: Isaac Bowland’s Golf Journey Powered by Passion and Perseverance

At just 13 years old, Isaac Bowland is already making waves on the junior golf circuit—and he’s doing it with grit, grace, and a deep love for the game.

An 8th grader at Garaway, Isaac recently captured first place at the Under Armour Junior Tour stop held at Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance, shooting an impressive round of 35 and finishing five strokes ahead of the competition. With this victory, Isaac has officially qualified for the prestigious Under Armour Junior National Tournament, set to take place this June at the PGA National Resort in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.

Before heading south, Isaac will tee it up once more this weekend at the Tour Championship hosted at Alliance Country Club.

Isaac’s golf story began at age 6, and his list of accolades already speaks volumes. In 2022, he was named Northern Ohio PGA Futures Tour Player of the Year. He’s also a four-time PGA Junior League All-Star and has a full schedule of Northern Ohio PGA events lined up for the summer.

But what makes Isaac’s journey truly remarkable is the obstacle he quietly overcomes every day: Osteogenesis Imperfecta (O.I.), a genetic condition more commonly known as brittle bone disease. The condition limits his ability to participate in contact sports—but on the golf course, Isaac has found his lane, his passion, and his purpose.

Despite undergoing reconstructive elbow surgery just last year, Isaac has shown remarkable resilience. Through months of recovery and dedication, he has returned to competitive form and continues to play the game he loves at a high level.

Isaac’s story is one of talent, toughness, and tenacity—and he’s just getting started.

"Every fighter is fueled by his past and whatever they’ve got going on. What got him to this point, I can’t tell you, but whatever it is, he uses it very well to do what he’s doing here.”
