The University of Mount Union fall sports are in full swing, which means it is time for a full fall sports update. The Purple Raider’s football team is dominating the season and remains undefeated after five weeks of games. The Raiders are nationally ranked number two, sitting close behind number one nationally ranked North Central.
The men’s and women’s cross country teams continue to run towards success. Both teams took home a second place finish at the Otterbein Invitational earlier this season and are preparing for the OAC Championship on November 1st. Junior Savannah Dennison won OAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week this past week, which is her second athlete of the week award this season.
The men’s and women’s golf teams are currently in Destin, Florida, participating in the Golf Week Classic with 24 participating teams. The teams will compete in Destin until October 13th.
The men’s and women’s soccer teams started OAC conference play at the beginning of October. The women’s soccer team has lost both OAC games and looks ahead to improving their record as OAC play continues. The men’s team has won one, lost one, and tied one in OAC play at this point. The men’s team made it to the OAC tournament last year and is ready to make it back to the tournament and win it all this year.
The men’s and women’s tennis teams wrapped up their fall schedule at the beginning of October. Both teams had a winning record of 3-2. The women’s team had an end of season thriller against Penn State Behrend, with the final being a 4-3 win for the Raiders.
Last but not least, the women’s volleyball team finished up their last travel weekend in Michigan, where they went 1-2 with their one win against Wheaton College. The Raiders have six more OAC games where they look to improve their conference record and make it back to the OAC tournament.

"Every fighter is fueled by his past and whatever they’ve got going on. What got him to this point, I can’t tell you, but whatever it is, he uses it very well to do what he’s doing here.”
