As the University of Mount Union fall sports season comes to a close, that means winter sports are on the rise. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams have kicked off their seasons. The men’s basketball team kicked off their season in Middletown, Pennsylvania, where they took on Penn State Harrisburg and Dickinson. The men’s team started off their season defeating both teams. The men’s basketball team will travel to Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, this weekend for two more out of conference games.

The lady Purple Raiders have also had a strong start to their season. These ladies traveled to North Manchester, Indiana, where they took on Kalamazoo and North Manchester, defeating both teams for a 2-0 start to their season. The ladies will travel to Washington, Pennsylvania, this upcoming weekend for two more out of conference matchups.

The men’s and women’s wrestling teams are off to successful beginnings in what looks to be a couple very promising seasons ahead. With young talent on both teams, all of Mount Union wrestling is excited for what is to come this season. You can count on these teams to keep you entertained and excited for the season ahead.

The swimming and diving teams’ seasons are in full swing. The men’s team has a record of 2-2, while the women’s team has a record of 3-1. Two standout swimmers have already been named OAC Swimmer of the Week: Abby Calaway and Isaac Tennant. Both teams have experienced returners and impressive newcomers that will help contribute to the team’s success this season.

Although we are all very excited for the winter sports season, as they all look to have successful and promising seasons, we cannot forget about Mount Union cross country and football. The cross country teams head to Louisville, Kentucky, to compete in regionals this weekend. The football team continues to impress all of us. The team just secured their 36th OAC Championship title. The team wraps up their regular season this Saturday, November 15th, where they take on Muskingum. The team is nine weeks undefeated and looks to make it ten weeks undefeated after this weekend.

There is a lot to look forward to at Mount Union during this time, and there are plenty of games and matches to come out and support! Stay up to date on schedules and results on the University of Mount Union athletics web page!
