The folks at Dover High School are still celebrating the school’s 2025 state softball championship.
In a ceremony held between the JV and varsity girls’ basketball game on Wednesday, the team was introduced and were honored for the title.
First, members of the Tuscarawas County Sports Hall of Fame presented the coaches with a large plaque commemorating the school’s first softball state championship.
The plaque, presented by TCSHOF members Mike Gunther, Tom Farbizo and Connie Evans, praised the 28-3 team. It read: “In honor of an unforgettable season defined by courage, excellence and unity, The Tuscarawas County Sports Hall of Fame is honored to present this commemorative award to the 2025 Dover High School Girls’ Softball team for their dedication and success. You have brought pride and inspiration to the Dover community and to all of Tuscarawas County!”
In a continuation of the ceremony, members of the team were presented with championship rings.
“This never gets old,” said Dover softball coach Hannah Duff. “You don’t want to take away from celebrations, but we’re already working on next year. We’ve already started lifting and we want to stay focused and be ready for the next one.”
“I knew I was approaching the record, but at the end of the day, that’s not what this is about. It’s more about getting to the next week successful and healthy. Thankfully, we got both done tonight.”
